POST TENSIONING

Post-tensioning is a method of reinforcing concrete. High tensile steel strands are positioned in galvanized ducting and chaired to design heights before the concrete is placed. Once the concrete has gained the required strength, tension is then applied using hydraulic jacks and pumps in the way of pulling each strand to desired engineered loads and in the process anchoring them against the outer edges of the concrete, all this needs to be done before any service loads can be applied.
