POST TENSION SYDNEY

A post tension concrete slab is one that has steel cables going through it that have been set under 15,000 +/ – kg of pressure. This pressure makes the concrete a lot stronger than cement without support and decreases cracking.
There are many reasons for using a post tension slab including low cost and loose soil in the area. A post tension slab system is a cheap method of providing reinforcement to the foundations where the earth beneath is loose or does not have good load bearing capacity. Post tension slabs spread the weight of the home over a wider area and provide the support for it rather than the foundation and piers having to bear the whole load. This leads to smaller and less expensive foundations being
required. Also lesser number of control joints are required to help control shrinkage cracks.
It is very important to be cautious when cutting or drilling into the concrete slab as the post tension steel cable may get cut or damaged causing it to rip right out of the slab and injure someone near it. Also the structural integrity of the structure may get compromised. Builders therefore mark the presence of post tension slabs by a sign ‘do not cut or core’ for safety. Having been in the industry for many years, King Flex offers quality products for the construction industry predominantly the
Post-Tension & Civil sector. Our range of industry grade solutions are used and preferred by leading construction companies and by individual builders Australia wide.
